Grosvenor Welcome Bonus

Every new customer can get a Double The Odds welcome bonus at Grosvenor. Upon registration, you receive a token to double the odds on any sports bet up to £10 (each-way bets are capped at £5 per). The promo applies to fractional odds only, and winnings are paid in cash upon settlement. You must use it within 60 days after registration. Note: PayPal deposits do not qualify. Full T&C apply: https://www.grosvenorcasinos.com/promotions/sport/double-the-odds

This is a simple and appealing bonus, with extra winnings paid in cash. The £10 bet limit may seem restrictive for high-stakes players, but overall, it’s a good option for newcomers seeking a straightforward boost.

Line and Features of Grosvenor Sport

Despite a much greater focus on casinos, the platform has built up a decent betting section. Let’s take a look at what’s most interesting there.

Sports and Markets

With over 40 sports available, the bookmaker focuses on horse racing, greyhound racing, and a broad selection of football events. You’ll also find less popular options like floorball or surfing and several eSports disciplines like CS2, Dota 2, Valorant or League of Legends here. Staking on UK, U.S., Irish and Swedish elections, TV Shows and entertainment awards results are an option, too.

Let’s look closer at three major betting options at Grosvenor:

  • Horse Racing: You may bet on races from the UK, Ireland, France, America, Australia, South Africa, and other countries. Live betting and live broadcasts for horse racing events worldwide are available. Ante-post bets and long-term specials are featured.
  • Greyhounds: The sportsbook offers betting on races from the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Live streaming is limited to national events only, as well as the ante-post option.
  • Football: This section offers betting on more than 100 leagues from around 46 countries. The platform covers 12 UK leagues, including top ones like the EPL and Championship and lower ones like the Professional Development League and women’s Super League. Over 700 outcomes for top matches are available, a modest number among top British bookmakers.

Streaming and Live Betting

Live streaming is not the primary feature at Grosvenor. This bookmaker only broadcasts horse racing and greyhound racing in real-time. However, in the case of the former, these are events from all over the world, not just the UK. To access horse racing broadcasts, you must have a positive account balance or have placed a bet within the last 24 hours or a minimum ongoing bet of £1 or more.

In-Play betting is available for various sports, from football to tennis, ice hockey, and more.

Margin

Margins at Grosvenor are comparable with standard industry rates. For top football, they are in line with industry averages. For EPL match-winner markets, it ranges from 5% to 6%, while for totals, the house edge varies from below 5% to over 6%. Champions League margins exceed 6% for 1×2 bets but drop below 6% for totals.

The lowest margins offered by the bookmaker are on NBA basketball games—just over 4% for match-winner markets and under 5% for totals. For snooker and ice hockey, the house takes 5-6% on 1×2 bets and 5-8% on totals.

Additional Options

Grosvenor’s set of online betting is standard, but one atypical option looks quite interesting.

  • Cash Out: Available on selected markets for horse racing, football, cricket, tennis, snooker, darts, rugby, golf, boxing, ice hockey, baseball, basketball, and American football.
  • Bet Builder. It lets you create custom bet combinations in pre-match markets. Up to 13 selections are allowed.
  • Fast Acca Builder: Blends elements of a bet builder and an accumulator. It allows bettors to pick up to three core markets—match result, both teams to score, and total goals—from a single game and combine these with similar selections from other matches. The result is an accumulator bet covering main events across multiple fixtures. It enables bettors to maximise related outcomes in one game, increasing potential returns without navigating between separate events.

Deposits and Withdrawals

Grosvenor accepts only four payment methods for deposits, with only three available for withdrawals. This is a modest offering compared to market leaders like William Hill or Bet365. However, the sportsbook claims to process payouts within 15 minutes, which is a notable advantage.

Customer Support

Grosvenor only has a live chat and a support section. Overall, the service is at an average level. To get to live chat, click ‘Support’ in the top menu or footer and then tap ‘Need more help?’. You will initially interact with a bot in live chat before being connected to a live agent.

While preparing our Grosvenor Sport review, we contacted support twice with two questions. The first query, about the terms of the In-Play Cashback for basketball, was answered quickly and clearly.

When we asked them to tell us what the bookmaker’s edge is for different sports, they provided two links for self-reading and mentioned that odds are set by a third party, implying the edge is not controlled by Grosvenor. So, in this case, we did not get an answer to our question, although bookmakers are not typically obliged to calculate the margin for customers.

Grosvenor App and Mobile Options

Mobile applications are a weak point for this sportsbook. First, Android and iOS apps replicate the mobile website’s functionality, giving users little incentive to download them. Second, they feel outdated, slow and glitchy. For example, the Grosvenor iOS app has received only one update since 2019, just an app icon change.

As for mobile options, the site looks pretty. You’ll first see the live button to get to the In-Play section with the ongoing events and special offers for today’s events. Scrolling down, you’ll find a prominent horse and greyhound racing category, the top football matches section, and other sports. A separate menu at the bottom of the screen allows quick access to In-Play, All Sports, and My Bets.

In the football category, you’ll find fast acca builder options, live games, today’s matches, and EPL sections—neatly and intuitively organised. Pre-set accas are offered for featured matches.

User feedback for the apps is mixed. The Android app has a 2.1-star rating on Google Play, with many negative reviews. The iOS app, available for iPhone and iPad, has a 4.3-star rating but only a few reviews, the most recent dated 2023.

Security and License

Grosvenor is the Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited brand, registered with the UK Gambling Commission under account number 57924. The sportsbook holds active licences authorising the following activities:

  • General Betting Standard – Real Event: Licensed to accept bets on real-life sports events.
  • General Betting Standard – Virtual Event: Permitted to conduct wagering on computer-simulated sports events.

In addition to these, the platform holds separate licences for casino and bingo operations.

The sportsbook follows industry-standard security measures, including SSL encryption and secure payment methods, to safeguard user data. Multi-factor authentication adds one more layer of account protection. Responsible gambling tools such as self-exclusion options and deposit limits are available for players. Responsible Gaming

Grosvenor provides various tools and resources to support safer gaming practices:

  • Net Deposit Limits: Set a maximum net deposit amount to manage spending. This limit helps cap potential losses over a given period.
  • Reality Check: Activate pop-up reminders to keep track of time spent on the platform, helping players stay aware of their gaming duration.
  • Take a Break: Temporarily block access to certain sections or the entire account for a set period, ranging from 24 hours to six weeks. Once the period ends, account access is restored automatically.
  • Self-Exclusion: Restrict access to the account for a more extended period, lasting up to five years. This option prevents betting activity and includes removal from promotional lists.
  • Markers of Harm: Grosvenor adheres to the UK Gambling Commission’s guidelines to monitor player behaviour and identify potential signs of problem gambling.

In addition, the sportsbook provides access to support services for safer gaming:

  • GambleAware. Confidential assistance and resources for people concerned about gambling-related issues.
  • GamCare. Educational resources and support are accessible via the 0808 8020 133 freephone number.
  • Gamblers Anonymous. Groups and online forums for compulsive gamblers.
  • National Problem Gambling Clinic. Helps families support affected members.
  • GAMSTOP. Self-exclusion from all UK-licensed gambling sites.
  • Gambling Therapy. Text-based helplines, forums, and an app for safer gambling resources.
  • Parental Control. Grosvenor recommends software like CYBERsitter and Net Nanny to restrict access to gambling for minors.

Our Opinion

Grosvenor has a solid range of sports and betting options. It features strong coverage of live horse and greyhound racing, as well as British football and European tournaments and leagues. However, its mobile apps need to catch up with competitors, which feel outdated and glitchy, which can deter mobile users.

The “Double the Odds” welcome bonus is straightforward and fair, limited by a low-stake £10 cap. While margins are generally average, they are competitive for top football and NBA matches. The customer support is responsive but limited to live chat, which may not suit everyone.

In conclusion, the sportsbook brings balance across the board, with standard payment options, responsible gambling tools, and UKGC compliance, but nothing that stands out as exceptional. Grosvenor is risk-averse and offers solid basics – punters wanting innovation will look elsewhere.
