Mental 2: Slot Overview

The demo version of Mental 2 slot is a risk-free way to try Nolimit City’s most deranged mechanics — from fire-lit reels that split symbols to multipliers spiralling out of control. Every spin feels like a controlled experiment in chaos, where xWays, xNudge and the notorious xHole can turn a routine round into a full-blown breakdown.

Graphics & Sound: Gloomy Mental Hospital

Mental 2 keeps the unmistakable look of the original — the asylum where nothing feels safe or sane. The background now shows a dark corridor scrawled with messages like “Help Me” or “No escape” in dried blood, while flickering light illuminates the walls, switches, and rusty doors. The opening animation sets the tone perfectly: we’re taken down in a creaking lift, and when the doors slide open, the reels appear as if built right into the basement of the hospital. Symbols show the same familiar patients — distorted faces, surgical tools, fragments of anatomy.

The sound design completes the descent into madness. The main track is quieter than in the first game, a low, eerie hum that feels like the calm before a scream. Each spin is accompanied by well-designed sound effects that further immerse you in the atmosphere. After a period of inactivity, the slot jolts back to life with a sudden rock riff — a clever way to shake the player out of the daze before the next spin. It’s unsettling, deliberate, and exactly what we expect from Nolimit City’s most deranged sequel.

Main Game

Volatility & RTP

Mental 2 runs on extreme volatility, even by Nolimit City’s usual standards — the kind where long dry spells can stretch endlessly before the game suddenly erupts in a flurry of xWays and multipliers. The slot’s RTP varies between 92.02% and 96.06%, depending on the version chosen by the casino. The theoretical maximum win reaches an enormous x99,999 of the bet.

How to Play Mental 2

In the Mental 2 demo, gameplay runs on virtual credits — you start with 10,000, and refreshing the page resets the balance. Bet adjustments are made through the coin icon in the lower-left corner, where you can fine-tune your stake before spinning. There’s no autoplay or turbo mode in the UK version due to regulatory limits, but in other regions, those options exist and can speed up spins to a blur.

Game Symbols and Payouts

Wins in Mental 2 are formed when matching symbols land on consecutive reels from left to right, creating up to 108 ways to win — before features like Fire Frames or xSplit expand the grid even further. Each symbol has its own payout value, expressed as a multiplier of your total bet.

Mental 2: Slot Features

Mental 2 piles on layered modifiers rather than classic line pays for specials. Most of these symbols don’t have fixed payouts — they reshape the reels, multiply wins or upgrade bonus modes. Below are all the specials you’ll meet and what they actually do.

  • Fire Frames & Fire Reels. Appears randomly on any spin. Any symbol inside the fiery frame is split into two parts, which are actually counted as two symbols when calculating winnings. The fiery reel sets the entire reel on fire, so each symbol on it is split into three, significantly increasing the number of options. Frames/reels also charge the amplifier cells under reels 2–4: when you reach 4/6/8 frames (the fire reel counts as 2–3), you get 1/2/3 amplifiers. During the bonus game, frames/reels can become sticky, and scatters in the frames on the trigger add extra starting spins.
  • Wild. Substitutes for all paying symbols. Does not have its own payments.
  • Cognitive Scatter (reels 1, 3, 5). Three trigger free spins: 8 Bloodletting Spins. If a Cognitive lands inside a Fire Frame at trigger, you gain +1 starting spin; inside a Fire Reel — +2.
  • Disembodied Scatter (reels 2 & 4). Lands only on reels 2 and 4. In the bonus modes Bloodletting, Surgery and ExperiMENTAL, it behaves differently: one Disembodied during Bloodletting upgrades to Surgery and adds +1 spin; two at once jump straight to ExperiMENTAL with +2 spins. In Surgery/ExperiMENTAL, any Disembodied that triggered the upgrade becomes sticky and transforms every spin into xWays/xSplit/Wild/Dead Patient/Patient.
  • Dead Patient. Reveals one of the five patients plus a number. That number means the reel is counted as if it holds that many copies of that patient when wins are calculated, so your ways and payouts can jump sharply.
  • xWays (mystery reveal). Expands a position to show multiple copies of the same paying symbol, increasing the number of ways on that reel. Multiple xWays can synchronise reveals across reels.
  • xSplit. Splits all symbols on its reel into additional instances, massively raising ways. Can appear from Enhancer Cells.
  • xNudge Wild. A wild stack that nudges to fill the reel; every nudge step increases its win multiplier, which applies to any wins it helps create. Obtained via Enhancer Cells.
  • xHole. When xHole lands inside a Fire Frame at row 2 of reel 3, it “sucks in” paying symbols and wilds, redistributes them, and upscales their size (e.g., x2/x4/x8). After resolving, xHole becomes a Wild.
  • xMental. If xMental lands in a Fire Frame, it awards an extra spin where all positions become Fire Frames; Enhancer Cells can only reveal xWays / xNudge / xSplit during that spin, and the chance of xHole increases.
  • xGOD. Special symbol tied to the game’s hard cap. If xGOD lands on every reel in a single spin (base or bonus), the game instantly awards the maximum win x99,999 and ends the round.

Bonus Choice

We’ve found the bonus triggers roughly once every 200–250 spins; with extreme volatility and a hard cap at x99,999, that hit rate is reasonable. It’s still a demanding game, but for a slot this dangerous, getting a feature within a couple of hundred spins is a fair trade.

  • Free-spin modes come in three tiers: Bloodletting Spins, Surgery Spins, and ExperiMENTAL Spins; they’re triggered by scatters and can upgrade mid-bonus.
  • Trigger & reels: Cognitive Scatters land on reels 1, 3, 5; Disembodied Scatters land on reels 2, 4;
    3 Cognitive start 8 Bloodletting Spins; 3 Cognitive + 1 Disembodied start 9 Surgery Spins; 3 Cognitive + 2 Disembodied start 10 ExperiMENTAL Spins.
  • Extra starting spins at trigger: a triggering scatter inside a Fire Frame adds +1 start spin; inside a Fire Reel adds +2; these apply to the initial award only.
  • Bloodletting Spins: all Fire Frames/Reels become sticky for the duration; landing 1 Disembodied in this mode immediately upgrades to Surgery and adds +1 spin; landing 2 Disembodied at once upgrades to ExperiMENTAL and adds +2 spins; Cognitive Scatters do not appear in free spins.
  • Surgery Spins: any Disembodied that caused the upgrade becomes sticky and performs Mental Transform on every spin (turns into xWays/xSplit/Wild/Dead Patient/Patient); the mode introduces Dead Multiplier — you collect a multiplier per patient based on the Count, and when that patient helps form a win later, the stored multiplier applies and its counter decreases by 1.
  • ExperiMENTAL Spins: two Disembodied are sticky, each transforms every spin; the Dead Multiplier counter does not decrease when applied (it can stack over time); new Disembodied do not appear in this top mode; Cognitive is absent here as in all free spins.
  • Enhancer Cells in free spins: the three cells beneath reels 2–4 open when enough Fire Frames are present (4/6/8 frames open 1/2/3 cells; a Fire Reel counts as 2–3 frames); cells can reveal Wild, xWays, xSplit, xNudge Wild, Patient and are central to building ways and multipliers.

Bonus Buy

There’s no Bonus Buy in the UK version of Mental 2 — that’s off the table under local rules. From the Nolimit Booster tools, only xBet is available: it costs 1.4x your stake and guarantees a Cognitive scatter on reel 1, nudging the odds of triggering free spins. In other jurisdictions, all Nolimit Booster options are available and players can buy straight into any bonus mode.

Summary

With Mental 2, Nolimit City doesn’t just revisit the ward — it escalates it. Compared to the first game, the Mental 2 demo slot packs deeper layering, heavier modifiers and a nastier ceiling at x99,999. The RTP depends on the casino build (96.06% down to 92.02%), and volatility is extreme: long droughts are part of the deal, but the top-end potential is absurd when Dead Patients and multipliers line up.

Who’ll like it? High-risk players who enjoy complex, interlocking features and are happy to ride out quiet stretches for a shot at a headline hit. Who’ll bounce off it? Those who prefer simple maths, frequent bonuses, or gentle swings. Our take: play it in demo first to learn the rhythms of Frames, Transform and Dead Multipliers.
