RIP City: Slot Overview
RIP City keeps the base game moving and puts the spotlight on its “Open Wide” mechanic rather than complicated win rules. The Wild Cat can stretch down a reel when it helps create a line win, effectively turning a single landing into a bigger wild presence. More details are in our RIP City review.
Graphics & Sound: Swingy Cartoon Action
The game follows a retro cartoon look — think 1920s/1930s-style animation with a darker, graffiti-splashed city backdrop. Ro$$ the Cat and Maxx the Mouse sit on either side of the grid, and the game uses punchy little character beats and “comic” movement to keep the reels feeling lively rather than sterile.
Audio matches the vibe: upbeat, old-school energy with playful effects when the key moments land (especially around the Wild Cat action), so the presentation feels more like a short cartoon chase than a standard neon slot.

Volatility & RTP
RIP City provides medium volatility, so it sits in that “steady base game, but spike-ready” lane once the Wild Cat starts doing its thing. The headline max win is x12,500, and the RTP is 96.22%.
How to Play RIP City
Pick your stake on the bottom bar, hit Spin, and you’re straight into a 5x5 setup. For the interface: the info/payout screen explains symbols and features. You will find them when following the three lines in the bottom-left. All in all, the interface of the RIP City free play and real-money modes is intuitive enough.
UK players can’t take advantage of Autoplay and speed settings. However, where available, you may choose between 10 and 1,000 spins. Advanced Autoplay is about choosing the stop on a certain win or loss limit or a feature. The game also offers Turbo and Super Turbo speed.
Game Symbols and Payouts
RIP City pays on 19 fixed paylines, and you’ll need 3–5 matching symbols on a line to score. Here’s what the paytable looks like in x of your bet:
| Symbol | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heart and 8-Ball | x2 | x10 | x20 |
| Smiley Face/Dice | x1.5 | x7.5 | x17.5 |
| Banana/Candle | x1 | x5 | x15 |
| A | x0.4 | x2 | x10 |
| K/Q | x0.3 | x1.5 | x7.5 |
| 10/J | x0.2 | x1 | x5 |
RIP City: Slot Features
There are actually not that many symbols in RIP City:
- Wild (green WILD word). A standard wild that substitutes for all regular pay symbols.
- Wild Cat (Ro$$). Lands as a single tile and only expands if doing so helps form at least one winning payline. When it triggers, it stretches downward to the bottom of the reel. If a Wild Cat expands through a regular Wild, that Wild converts into a win multiplier applied to the entire expanded Wild Cat. The range is from x2 to x200.
Both also pay x25 you bet for a combination of five, and you can observe this in the RIP City slot demo.
Bonus Choice
RIP City offers two bonus modes.
Ro$$ Bonus
- Trigger: Land 3 FS scatter symbols in the base game.
- What changes: you get an increased chance of landing Wild Cat symbols (and regular Wilds), so the game leans harder into expansion + multiplier moments.
- Retrigger: Land 3 FS scatters during the feature to add +4 Free Spins.
- Upgrade: If you land 4 FS scatters during Ro$$ Bonus, you upgrade into Maxx Bonus at the end of that spin, and you’re guaranteed at least 10 Free Spins in the next mode.
Maxx Bonus
- Trigger: Land 4 FS scatter symbols in the base game.
- Reel activation: Each reel can be “activated” by landing a Wild Cat on it; once activated, a Wild Cat is guaranteed to land on that reel for all remaining Free Spins.
- Extra spins: Land 3 FS scatters during the feature to add +4 Free Spins.
Bonus Buy
Just as other Hacksaw games, this one provides several Bonus Buy options:
- Bonushunt Featurespins (each spin increases the chance to activate a bonus x5): x3 your bet;
- Two Wild Cats Featurespins (two Wild Cats on each spin are guaranteed): x20 your bet;
- Three Wild Cats Featurespins (three Wild Cats will land): x50 your stake;
- Ro$$ Bonus: x110 your stake;
- Maxx Bonus: x200 your bet.
Nevertheless, UK players can’t use Bonus Buy.
Summary
RIP City is a feature-first Hacksaw slot: 5x5, 19 paylines, and an official medium volatility rating that feels “medium-high” because so much of the excitement is tied to the Wild Cat doing something meaningful. When a Wild Cat expands and converts a regular Wild into a multiplier (up to x200), the tone changes fast — that’s where the game’s best moments live.
The two bonus modes give it a nice progression curve: Ro$$ Bonus is about more chances (more Wild Cats/Wilds landing), while Maxx Bonus is the “gear shift” because activated reels keep feeding you guaranteed Wild Cats for the rest of the feature.
The slot suits players who like straightforward line wins, but want the upside to come from one headline mechanic. Plus, it may become a good choice for anyone who enjoys “feature hunting” and doesn’t mind stretches where you’re waiting for the Cat to land right.
